Funeral Celebrant & Humanist

As an Independent Funeral Celebrant & Humanist, it is a great privilege for me to plan and deliver a ceremony that is as unique as the person whose life is being celebrated. When someone close to us dies we gain comfort from honouring their memory with a ceremony that is a meaningful reflection of their life and beliefs.

The ritual to a Funeral Service or an End of Life Service is important because it allows you to express your emotions, to mourn your loss and to honour and celebrate all the things that made your loved one so special.

I will work with you and your chosen Funeral Director to give you the most appropriate and fitting ceremony possible. Some family and friends may want to take part in the service, reading their own personal tribute, playing music or reading poetry, others feel unable to and prefer me to speak for them which I am happy to do. I will be there to help and advise you on music, to help you research suitable readings and to plan and arrange your individual and unforgettable funeral.

Creating Unforgettable Living Funerals

As an alternative Funeral Celebrant, I can also help you to make plans for your own unique “Living Funeral” service. I believe a Living Funeral Ceremony is a way of actively celebrating the life that has ended. Your End of Life Celebration can be celebrated through music, readings but above all through shared and precious memories. Many of us wish that we could attend our own funeral but we know that this is not possible. However you can plan and control your own “Living Funeral” so that it becomes a formal and personal way of saying goodbye to your family, friends and loved ones.

Maybe you are suffering from a terminal illness, have a sense that time is short or just want to make your own arrangements for your funeral service. I will arrange a meeting to discuss in detail your plans. I am passionate about letting people know that they have choices, and that I am able to assist you with a number of options that are available to you, but I am also there to write your Eulogy to be read when it is time for you to say goodbye. This will be your very own personal tribute and order of service, which will include details of where you would like your service conducted and where you wish to be buried or cremated.

I have been involved with creating unforgettable funeral ceremonies since 2009. I am a member of The Association of Independent Celebrants (The A.O.I.C) and an active member of “The Natural Death Centre Charity” www.naturaldeath.org.uk together with Final Fling, www.Finalfling.com.

Celebrant/Humanist playing a part in your service

Religious services are for those who attend church or profess a certain level of faith, whereas humanist services are for those who are definite in their lack of faith. A celebrant can provide a service which includes some religious presence, in the form of hymns or prayers. Whichever service is right for you, let me help you deliver an unforgettable ceremony.

To help me create a unique and uplifting ceremony, we will discuss a list of areas to think about in preparation for my visit.

I can provide Funeral Services, which can also include Funeral Planning for Traditional, Green, Alternative and Ash burial at your choice of:

I am happy to assist you with all of your Funeral Planning arrangements, ensuring that you make informed choices and so helping to create a service that is unique to you. I also provide practical support to guide you through the paperwork and legal formalities at this very difficult time.

Dear Nita,

Both Claire and I thought you conducted the service brilliantly and thank you so much for your kindness and thoughtful additions, we could not have wished for more.  I was not sure how it would go as we had not been to a Humanist type service before, but found the whole experience was so much more settling than the C of E service and we both felt Joanna would have been very pleased with it.

It seemed difficult to try and put the information together taking into consideration family members, the staff at the hospital and fit in the story of Joanna's life, but the feedback was very positive from everyone and they all thought it was a super send-off.

Kind Regards
Robert and Claire
